4.1 Description of necessary first-aid measures

General advice Many flammable liquids contain solvents which can cause dizziness or drowsiness and/or respiratory irritation if inhaled.

Safety Data Sheet

PLATINUM SHIELD

If inhaled

In case of skin contact

In case of eye contact

If swallowed

Remove to fresh air, keep patient warm and at rest. If breathing is irregular or stopped, give artificial respiration. If unconscious place in the recovery position and obtain immediate medical attention. Give nothing by mouth.

Acute and delayed symptoms and effects: May cause drowsiness or dizziness. May cause respiratory irritation. Signs/symptoms may include cough, sneezing, nasal discharge, headache, hoarseness, and nose and throat pain.

Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Wash with plenty of soap and water. Rinse for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation develops or persists.

Acute and delayed symptoms and effects: May cause skin irritation. Signs/symptoms may include localized redness, swelling, and itching.

Rinse cautiously with water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Get medical attention.

Acute and delayed symptoms and effects: Causes serious eye irritation. Signs/symptoms may include redness, swelling, pain, tearing, and blurred or hazy vision. May causes serious eye damage. Signs/symptoms may include cloudy appearance of the cornea, chemical burns, severe pain, tearing, ulcerations, significantly impaired vision or complete loss of vision.

Rinse mouth. If vomiting occurs naturally, have victim lean forward to reduce the risk of aspiration. Do NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Call a poison center or doctor. Seek medical help.

Acute and delayed symptoms and effects: Harmful if swallowed. May cause gastrointestinal irritation. Signs/symptoms may include abdominal pain, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

4.2 Most important symptoms/effects, acute and delayed

The most important known symptoms and effects are described in the labeling (see section 2) and/or in section 11

4.3 Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed, if necessary

No data available.

SECTION 5: Fire-fighting measures 5.1 Suitable extinguishing media

Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

5.3 Special protective actions for fire-fighters

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

Further information

Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

SECTION 6: Accidental release measures
6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Use personal protective equipment. Avoid breathing vapors, mist or gas. Ensure adequate ventilation. Remove all

sources of ignition. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Beware of vapors accumulating to form explosive concentrations. Vapors can accumulate in low areas. For personal protection see section 8.

Safety Data Sheet

PLATINUM SHIELD
6.2 Environmental precautions

Do not let product enter drains.

6.3 Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Eliminate all sources of ignition. Soak up with inert absorbent material and dispose of as hazardous waste. Keep in

suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Reference to other sections

For disposal see section 13.

SECTION 7: Handling and storage 7.1 Precautions for safe handling

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of vapor or mist. Wash hands with soap and water after handling.

Container explosion may occur under fire conditions. Use explosion-proof equipment. Use only non-sparking tools. Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking. Take measures to prevent the build up of electrostatic charge. For precautions see section 2.

7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Keep container tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be

carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.

Do not store above 120 degrees F. (48 degrees C.). Store large quantities in buildings designed and protected for storage of NFPA Class IC flammable liquids.

OTHER PRECAUTIONS: Vapors may collect in low areas. If this material is part of a multiple component system, read the SDS sheet for the other component or components before blending as the resulting mixture may have the hazards of all of its parts. Containers should be grounded when pouring. Avoid free fall of liquids in excess of a few inches.

Specific end use(s)

Apart from the uses mentioned in section 1 no other specific uses are stipulated.

8.2 Appropriate engineering controls

Use ventilation adequate to keep exposures (airborne levels of dust, fume, vapor, gas, etc.) below recommended

exposure limits.

8.3 Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment (PPE) Eye/face protection

Safety glasses. If splash hazard, wear face shield (8-inch minimum). Use equipment for eye protection that meets

the standards referenced by OSHA regulations in 29 CFR 1910.133 for Personal Protective Equipment. Ensure that eyewash stations and/or safety showers are close to the workstation location.

Skin protection

Wear protective clothing sufficient to cover exposed skin surfaces. For applications where skin contact is likely and

impermeable clothing is necessary, select clothing constructed of: neoprene rubber or nitril rubber. No specific permeation/degradation testing have been done on protective clothing for this product. Recommendations for skin protection are based on infrequent contact with this product. For frequent contact or total immersion, contact a manufacturer of protective clothing for appropriate chemical impervious equipment.

Body protection

The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous

substance at the specific workplace.
Wear suitable protective clothing. If splash risk, ensure clothing is impervious and fire resistant.

Respiratory protection

Provide good ventilation. Respiratory protection is not required under normal use conditions.

Overexposure to vapors may be prevented by ensuring proper ventilation controls, vapor exhaust or fresh air entry.

If engineering controls and ventilation are not sufficient to control exposure to below the allowable limits then an appropriate NIOSH/MSHA approved air-purifying respirator with organic vapor/acid gas cartridge and particulate filter, or self-contained breathing apparatus must be used. Supplied air breathing apparatus must be used when oxygen concentrations are low or if airborne concentrations exceed the limits of the air-purifying respirators.
